Leo Hillinger Pinot Gris
What began (with Leo’s father) as a small operation producing three wines in bulk, has become a flashy, state of the art winery producing multiple lines of wines. It can be a lot to take in! Luckily we can do things one at a time and focus on just this week’s Wine of the Week, a Pinot Gris from the Burgenland region in the easternmost part of Austria. All the Hillinger wines are organically farmed. This Pinot Gris gets just a few hours of skin contact, is fermented in stainless steel, and spends four weeks on (fine) lees. A lovely, round Pinot gris with a tiny hint of spice.
