Domaine De La Combe Au Mas is located in the appellation of Ventoux, in the southern Rhône Valley. Thomas Ayoun and Marie-Sophie Jullien started the estate in 2019 with 10 hectares of vines planted between 980 - 1300 feet above sea level. The name of the wine we are featuring this week is “Rigaou” meaning robin, which indicates a little pale red wine. The Grenche is destemmed for a short 6 day maceration and the Carignan undergoes carbonic maceration.
Native yeasts are used in the fermentation and the wine ages in centuries old 2000-4000L terracotta Amphorae. Organic, biodynamic,polyculture farming, and the minimum use of sulphur at bottling. This wine offers tremendous value. It is a great chance to experience the effect of amphorae aging at an approachable price.
