Gambellara lives in the shadow of its more famous (Garganega producing) neighbor, Soave. However, we love an underdog and this wine from Dal Maso delights us every time we taste it.
Located at the very edge of the Lessini mountains in the Veneto, the vineyards sit on volcanic clay soils. The Dal Maso family has been producing wines in the hills of what has become the Gambellara DOC since 1887. The Ca’Fischele had its first release in 1988 and is now made from over 30 year old vines and has become one the family’s most important wines. It will pair well with a whole range of light vegetable, cheese, or seafood dishes. Enjoy!
